Salmon Run Fishing Lodge
Self-Guided Fishing Lodge in Remote Southeast Alaska
You and your party will need to be checked in at Ward Air by 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. You'll need to go to the counter and check in with each person in your party's full name and weight. Flights take off at 4:30 with a 5:00 p.m. arrival at Salmon Run Fishing Lodge.
Pick up from the lodge is Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. We STRONGLY suggest planning to stay in Juneau Saturday night and then flying home Sunday. Weather can heavily affect non instrument plane flights (like float planes) and we cannot guarantee that you'll make those same day flights.
Fish will be filleted, cleaned, vacuum sealed, labelled, dated and packed for guests by staff. We provide 50 pound frozen fish boxes that are guaranteed frozen up to 24 hours in ideal conditions. When flying home those boxes will be checked just as you would a checked bag. We do not suggest nor do we offer to ship boxes home for guests.
Depending on your commercial flights returning home you have a few options for storing fish boxes overnight. Our best suggestion is booking a hotel that has freezer. The following hotels currently offer freezer space for a fee (usually $10): Super 8 Travelodge Best Western Grandmother's Feather BedPlease give us a call if this option does not work for your group and we'll be happy to offer more suggestions.
Luggage weight limit per guest: 35 pounds Float planes are booked by weigh, not by number of seats. Please do not overpack as it could overload planes. This does NOT include the 15 pounds of snacks/beverages each guest is allowed to bring.
2 - 3 sweaters/hoodies/jackets 4 long sleeve shirts 4 short sleeve shirts 3 pairs of pants 2 pairs of sweatpants Socks and undergarments Beanie and/or hat Lodge shoes/slippers Any necessary medications
For extra snacks, drinks, alcoholic beverages and mixers we suggest either:Breeze Inn: Close to the airportFred Meyer: More options, but requires a taxi ride into townAlcoholic beverages are available for purchase at both locations. *Please note that beer cases are VERY heavy and take up a lot of plane space.** NO glass beer bottles under ANY circumstances. Glass liquor bottles are okay.
